Partner with us to add more languages to Waha
Waha collaborates with church networks, movement-minded organizations, and cross-cultural workers to add languages to the platform
How can you get involved?
Volunteer as a language sponsor
A volunteer language sponsor will assist us in identifying the appropriate scripture translation, recruiting translators, and connecting with like-minded teams and organizations.
Volunteer as a translator, proofreader, or voice actor
Translators work with our team to get Waha translated into new languages. Proofreaders ensure translations are both accurate and communicate Disciple Making Movement ideas appropriately. Voice actors create audio recordings professionally or at home.
Start a Fundraiser
Waha is free to use and being made available to more people in more languages through the generous support of people like you. We can help you start a crowdfunding website similar to KickStarter or IndieGogo to help raise money to add a language to Waha.
What is the process for adding a language?
Preparation
A volunteer language sponsor helps us identify which scripture translation to use, recruit translators, and network with like-minded teams and organizations.
Translation
The translators translate all app text, audio files, and video files using our localization platform.
Proofreading
At specific milestones, the translation team begins to proofread each other’s translations.
Audio and Video Production
After translations are approved, audio and video files are produced.
Quality Assurance
Our internal QA team and external translation partners do additional quality assurance.
FAQs

Since we've launched, our team has had hundreds of people reach out requesting for us to add their language! So we've needed to add some criteria for deciding which projects to take on:
-
You have a pre-existing network of groups with at least 2 or 3 generations and 15+ groups to launch the app to
-
Or you can organize an internet meeting with at least 15 people in attendance
-
Or you can raise a one-time donation of $5,000 for the project
We only used certified Bible translations, so we do not support summarizations or unofficial "story" versions of Bible passages.
In the case of a Scripture translation being unavailable, you can use a trade or bridge translation. Another option is to have both a trade language translation and a non-official, phrase-for-phrase retelling of the Scripture in your target language. The lesson questions should be in your target language. If your language has only part of the Bible translated, we can still work with your team. Waha can be released and used to make mature and fruitful disciples with as little as 7% of the Bible translated.
We've had languages get launched in as little as 6 weeks, although many times it can take upwards of 6 to 10 months. We are constantly working on creating systems that can make localization faster, easier, and cheaper.
We would love for you to do that! Head over to the volunteer form to get more information and sign up.
Localizing video content is usually pretty difficult. However, we came up with a pretty unique solution! Check out the video here.
