Worldly Riches to Heavenly Riches

Mon Jun 15 2026

Mike is a middle-eastern business owner. Or, he was, anyway…

For years, he was angry and bitter after everything good in life fell apart. He had been a successful businessman: Owner of several major factories throughout the country. He was wealthy beyond what he had ever imagined, but there was a problem. His marriage was crumbling and his wife was ready to divorce him and take all of his wealth.

That’s when Mike had an idea. He would divest his factories and business portfolio to his brother until the divorce was finalized. That way, he could keep everything he had worked so hard for. Excited about his new scheme, he made all the proper arrangements, and sure enough, his wife went through with the divorce. It was a painful time. He had once trusted this woman but over the years they grew apart. At least he knew his business empire would be safe with his brother.

That’s when the worst happened.

When all was said and done with the divorce, Mike’s brother was poised to return the factories and businesses. But when Mike called, his brother didn’t answer the phone. He called again. He texted. Weeks went by with no response. How could this be? His brother was stealing from him! Mike had never felt so betrayed in all his life. But soon he had more to worry about when the bills were due.

Years passed and Mike found himself living on such a meager pension that he had to work at a coffee shop just to support himself. It was humiliating!

Mike still had at least one friend, though. There was a kind gentleman who came into the coffee shop often to talk about God’s love. Mike bristled at the idea. Where was God when he had been cheated out of the wealth he had worked so hard for? Their relationship went on like this for nearly two years. Mike softened a little, and even gave his life to Christ, accepting baptism. But he still had a lot of pain in his heart.

He was poor. Materially and spiritually.

One day, some youngsters entered the coffee shop curious to hear about Jesus. Mike sometimes spoke about his faith to others and had gotten something of a reputation.

“Well, if you want to know Jesus, then you should read the Bible to learn,” he said. “That’s what I did.”

“How?”

Mike scratched his head. He didn’t actually know. When he was rich, he had many factories that produced a fortune for him. What he needed was a tool like those to produce spiritual wealth. His friend from the last two years knew just the thing. It was called the Waha app, and it makes facilitating a Discovery Bible Study so easy anyone can do it. Mike decided to give it a try with the youngsters, and they loved it!

Within just a few weeks of meeting, the youngsters had all given their lives to Jesus and had been baptized. But they also found the process so easy that they could replicate it with their family and friends as well. Mike suggested they try starting their own groups. That’s just what they did.

But it didn’t stop there.

The youngsters realized the people in their groups could start new groups, too. They decided to have a friendly competition to see who could start the most! Mike soon found himself overseeing a network of over 60 groups! He took this new approach to ministry online, as well. He found people all over his country and led them to Jesus using the Waha app. Soon after that, his online contacts would continue meeting as a group, and start even more new groups with their family and friends.

Suddenly, Mike had started 60 groups in one location, 20 in another, and 40 in the next location. New groups seemed to be starting every day, and hundreds of people were getting baptized. But what was more important was that Mike realized he doesn’t have to be rich in the world to be rich in the kingdom. When he saw how many people were getting their lives transformed, he realized that losing everything actually gained him everything. He was finally at peace, and is still overseeing a movement to this day!
