As the spooky season approaches, many people are dressing up as witches, demons, and other dark figures for fun. But for others, the spiritual forces behind these symbols are not a joke—they are a real and oppressive part of life. Across the world, people have turned to the occult in search of power, knowledge, and spiritual freedom. However, many have also found that instead of freedom, they are left feeling trapped, fearful, or oppressed.
If you are someone who has explored the occult or felt drawn to its mysteries, you might have done so because traditional religion seemed judgmental or irrelevant to your search for spiritual power. You’re not alone. The truth is, no matter how deeply into occult rituals you may have dabbled, Jesus is not interested in condemning you. Rather, He offers hope to those who feel outcast or judged.
Just as many who are drawn to the occult feel judged or marginalized, Jesus also experienced rejection by religious authorities. He spent time with those who were seen as sinners, offering them hope, healing, and a new beginning. Jesus didn’t come to judge those who sought meaning outside of traditional religion—He came to offer a relationship with God that would transform their lives.
If you’ve felt cast aside by religious communities, Jesus’ message to you is one of grace, not judgment. He sees your desire for spiritual truth and invites you into a relationship that offers real freedom and peace.
For those who seek power through the occult, the Gospels reveal that there is no greater spiritual power than Jesus Christ. One of the most striking examples of His authority is when He cast out an entire legion of demons from a man who had been living in torment (Mark 5:1-20). Jesus’ power was so overwhelming that even the demons begged Him for mercy.
The spiritual forces in the occult may offer glimpses of power, but Jesus’ power is unmatched. He has authority over all spiritual realms, and even overcame death itself through His resurrection. Those who follow Him are invited to share in that victory over darkness, finding strength and freedom in His name.
Author Doreen Virtue, a former leading figure in the New Age and occult practices, who later became a Christian, said, “I realized that Jesus is the only source of real and lasting peace. All the other spiritual practices I had pursued only brought temporary relief but left me searching for more. But with Jesus, I found the true peace I had been longing for.”
For those who seek hidden or mysterious knowledge, the Bible reveals that the gospel itself is the greatest mystery that has now been made known to us. In Colossians 1:26-27, Paul writes, “The mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the Lord’s people. To them God has chosen to make known…the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
The deep spiritual truths that people search for in the occult are ultimately found in Christ. He reveals the mystery of salvation and the purpose of life—things that have been hidden but are now accessible through a relationship with Him. The journey toward this deeper understanding is not found in secret rituals, but in knowing Jesus personally.
For many who have dabbled in the occult, the spiritual oppression they experience becomes overwhelming. People struggle with depression, hearing dark voices, or experiencing disturbing thoughts. The good news is that Jesus offers freedom from these spiritual attacks. Throughout His ministry, Jesus cast out demons, healed the broken, and brought peace to those tormented by darkness.
If you are experiencing any form of spiritual oppression, speak the name of Jesus and call on Him for help. The Bible promises that Jesus’ name holds power, and He can bring freedom and peace to those who call on Him. As Philippians 2:10 says, “At the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth.”
While the occult may offer temporary glimpses of power, mystery, or spiritual insight, only Jesus provides lasting peace, true spiritual power, and freedom from oppression. He invites you to experience a relationship with Him that will satisfy your deepest spiritual desires without the fear or oppression that often accompanies the occult.
