Paul is an American engineer. Hamza comes from the Middle East and follows Islam. He became friends with Paul in the United States. While in the States, Hamza started interacting with Christians. He started to get interested in what was in the Bible.

When Hamza returned to the Middle East after his studies, Paul stayed in touch with him. But then the COVID pandemic started, and Paul and Hamza starting doing video calls every week.

Paul told Hamza about the Waha app. They used it to do Discovery Bible Studies when they called each other. During these times, the two friends would talk in English, but Hamza often read the story and prayed in Arabic. Over time, Paul and Hamza had discussed many stories from the Old and New Testaments, through Waha. They took turns facilitating the discussion by asking the simple Discovery Bible Study questions found in the app.

After over a year of studying together online, Hamza and Paul did a Discovery Bible Study on the story of Phillip and the Ethiopian. Paul asked Hamza what he liked about the story, and Hamza said that he loved how the Ethiopian found the Truth and did something about it.

Paul asked Hamza if he had found the Truth. After pausing to think, he said “Yes, I think I have!”. The next time they met, Hamza decided to follow Jesus!

Since then, Paul and Hamza have continued to meet regularly using Waha as the framework for their phone calls. Hamza is continuing to learn what it means to follow Jesus on a practical, daily basis.
