Recently, in a Muslim-majority country, a young woman heard a beautiful story about Jesus. She wanted to know more stories just like this one, but there was one problem: She couldn’t read. How could she? She had been blind for years. Luckily, her friend had a solution.

The Waha app was designed with audio in mind, so it was easy for a blind woman to learn about Jesus.

All they had to do was push play, listen to the stories and discuss.

Over the coming weeks, the woman learned more and more. Jesus seemed different from the religion she knew. He was real. Authentic. He loved her, and she believed it was true because she could sens that love in real life. Eventually, it clicked.

“I want to give my life to this Jesus!” She said. “What should I do?”

Her friend played her the Waha lesson that introduces the concept of baptism. The young woman said yes! She wanted to be baptized. They planned out a time to do so, but she was worried about her family. Would they persecute her? She decided to go through the baptism in secret.

When the day came, she felt happy, but also a little sad that her family could not share in the celebration with her. She went under the water, and as soon as she came up, everything was different. In multiple ways. Not only did she feel her heart had changed, but something else had changed as well… She could see.

God had totally healed her of her blindness!

She was amazed. She leaped out onto the shore, exclaiming her excitement. The small group of friends who had joined her were afraid at first to see her moving about without anyone holding her hand, but when they realized what was going on, they joined in! When she went home that day, her family noticed, too.

“Allah has healed you!” They exclaimed. The young woman didn’t quite know what to say. At first, she just let them talk that way. But over the coming weeks, it bothered her. Her family was telling everyone, glorifying their own idea of God, who they called Allah. But it the glory belonged to Jesus. Eventually, the young woman realized her love for the One who healed her had overcome her fear of persecution.

“Allah didn’t heal me!” She said. “It was Jesus.”

Her secret was out, but it was a wonderful secret. Her family resented it at first, but they couldn’t deny that Jesus was real, and His power had changed things. Eventually, they too opened their hearts to their daughter and sister. The young woman who was once blind was able to use the Waha app to share the same stories with her family that had first led her to faith.
